1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using SketchScript ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service
SketchScript is a software service that converts user-provided meeting transcripts into visual sketchnote artwork using artificial intelligence. The Service includes:
- AI-powered transcript analysis and sketchnote generation
- Customizable visual styles and templates
- Library management for generated sketchnotes
- Export and sharing capabilities
Not Included: SketchScript does not create, record, or transcribe meetings. You must provide your own transcript content.
3. User Responsibilities
3.1 Content You Upload
YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Content Accuracy: Ensuring transcripts you upload are accurate and complete
- Confidentiality: Removing confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information before uploading
- Third-Party Rights: Ensuring you have the right to process and share the transcript content
- Legal Compliance: Complying with all applicable laws regarding data you upload
- Redaction: Removing personal data, trade secrets, or confidential business information as required
WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Disclosure of confidential information you include in transcripts
- Privacy violations resulting from your uploaded content
- Legal consequences of processing unauthorized or protected information
- Accuracy or completeness of transcripts you provide
3.2 Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
- Upload illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or offensive content
- Process transcripts you do not have permission to use
- Violate intellectual property rights of third parties
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or hack the Service
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful software
- Abuse, harass, or impersonate others
- Scrape, crawl, or automate access to the Service without permission
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
3.3 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of unauthorized access
- Using strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication
4. Intellectual Property
4.1 Service Ownership
SketchScript, including all software, designs, trademarks, and technology, is owned by SketchScript. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Service.
4.2 Your Content
Transcripts You Upload: You retain all ownership rights to transcripts you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited license to process your transcripts solely to provide the Service.
Generated Sketchnotes: You own the sketchnote images generated from your transcripts. You may:
- Download, share, and distribute your sketchnotes
- Use sketchnotes for commercial purposes
- Modify or edit generated images
- Print sketchnotes for physical distribution
Attribution: You are not required to credit SketchScript when using generated sketchnotes, but we appreciate it when you do.
4.3 License to Use Service
Subject to these Terms and your subscription, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal or business purposes.
5. Subscription & Payment
5.1 Pricing
SketchScript offers the following subscription tiers:
- Free: Limited sketchnotes per month
- Pro: Paid monthly subscription, enhanced features
- Team: Paid per-user subscription, team management features
Pricing is displayed in Euros (EUR). Current pricing is available at /pricing.
5.2 Billing
- Recurring Charges: Paid subscriptions auto-renew monthly or annually
- Payment Method: Credit/debit card via Stripe
- Failed Payments: Service suspended after 3 failed payment attempts
- Invoices: Emailed monthly for paid subscriptions
5.3 Refunds
- Pro-Rated Refunds: If you cancel within 7 days of initial subscription, receive full refund
- No Partial Refunds: No refunds for partial months or unused sketchnotes
- Abuse: Refund requests suspected of abuse will be denied
5.4 Free Trial
New Pro users may receive a free trial period. Trial terms:
- One trial per user/email address
- Full Pro features during trial
- No payment required during trial
- Auto-converts to paid subscription if not cancelled before trial ends
5.5 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time:
- How: Settings → Subscription → Cancel Subscription
- Effect: Access continues until end of current billing period
- Downgrade: Account reverts to Free tier after cancellation
- Data Retention: Generated sketchnotes retained for 90 days after cancellation
6. Service Availability & Changes
6.1 Service Uptime
We strive for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance when possible.
6.2 Service Modifications
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue features with notice
- Change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers
- Update Terms of Service (notification via email)
- Improve or enhance the Service without notice
6.3 Data Loss
While we implement backups and redundancy, we are not liable for data loss. You should:
- Download and backup your generated sketchnotes regularly
- Keep copies of uploaded transcripts
- Not rely solely on SketchScript for data storage
7. Limitation of Liability
7.1 Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Accuracy, reliability, or quality of generated content
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Security or data protection guarantees
7.2 Limitation of Damages
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- No Indirect Damages: We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
- Maximum Liability: Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months prior to the claim
- No Liability for User Content: We are not responsible for consequences of content you upload or generate
7.3 Exceptions
The above limitations do not apply to:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Liabilities that cannot be excluded under applicable law
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SketchScript, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of third-party rights (including confidentiality or intellectual property)
- Content you upload or generate
9. Privacy & Data Protection
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points:
- GDPR Compliance: We comply with EU data protection law
- Data Processors: Pickaxe (US), Anthropic (US), Stripe (US/EU)
- Your Rights: Access, deletion, portability, restriction, objection
- Retention: Transcripts deleted after 90 days; sketchnotes retained while account active
10. Termination
10.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time:
- Self-Service: Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Effect: Immediate account closure, data deleted within 30 days
- Subscription: Cancellation processed, no further charges
10.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
- Your account is inactive for 12+ months (Free tier)
- Payment fails repeatedly (paid subscriptions)
- We are required by law to terminate your access
Notice: We will provide 30 days' notice before termination (unless immediate termination is required by law or to prevent harm).
10.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your access to the Service immediately ends
- You lose access to your account and generated content
- We delete your data within 30 days (subject to legal retention requirements)
- You remain liable for any outstanding charges
11. Dispute Resolution
11.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Austria, excluding conflict of law principles.
11.2 Jurisdiction
Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Vienna, Austria. However, we may seek injunctive relief in any jurisdiction.
11.3 Informal Resolution
Before filing a lawsuit, you agree to attempt to resolve disputes informally by contacting us at support@sketchscript.app.
12. General Provisions
12.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SketchScript regarding the Service.
12.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
12.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
12.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
12.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, wars, network outages).
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be notified via:
- Email notification (for material changes)
- In-app banner notification
- Updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
